Česká hlava s.r.o.

This private limited company was founded in 1998 under the name Caneton s.r.o., at first as a commercial press service. In 2002, it launched the Česká hlava project, aimed at supporting and promoting Czech science and technology. This project, granting yearly awards to the best scientists and engineers, soon became the most prestigious award of its kind, carrying the highest monetary prizes. Within it, the Czech government has been granting its Česká hlava Czech Government Award since 2005. The prize-giving ceremony takes place at a gala soirée broadcast by the Czech TV (ČT1) at prime time, with an audience that regularly exceeds one million viewers. Česká hlava is a registered trademark. The project is entirely funded by private sponsors.
Since 2007, the Company has been renamed Česká hlava s.r.o. to match the name of the project prepared and implemented by it.

The Company also produces a 300-episode series called České hlavy, which attracted millions of ČT1 viewers in 2005-2006. Thanks to its focus on science and technology promotion, it submitted a successful tender to the Ministry of Education and was appointed as the "Science and Media" agency for the Czech Republic.

Every year, the Company organizes an International Conference on the "Science and the Future of Europe", with the participation of Nobel Prizes, representatives of the government, of prestigious universities all over the world, industry leaders and top scientists.
Its "Science in the Streets" operation has became an inseparable part of the Česká hlava project, aiming at bringing science and technology to the attention of the wide public in the Czech Republic. Within this operation, scientific breakthroughs and technological novelties are presented to the general public though displays organized directly out in the streets. The visitors can even test themselves the operation of most exhibits.

In 2007, Česká hlava implemented a new project titled České hlavičky - a similar contest aimed mainly at high-school youth.
Since the beginning of 2008, it prepares a new contest with the support of the Czech Senate - Innovating Minds – Czech Awards for young Europeans. The new contest will be open to all young Europeans up to 19 years of age, www.innovatingminds.eu
